Meet our CEO, Jen Longden
We sat down with Jen Longden to talk about what her role as CEO includes on a day-to-day basis, as well as finding out about her passion for touring places with her family.
Hi Jen, to start off with could you please tell us about your job as CEO of Tequ?
I came into The 55 Group (Tequ's parent brand) after working in the education sector for the last 15 years. My main responsibilities initially were to design and work with a team to implement a new e-portfolio system for the education sector. A typical day in Tequ is working with stakeholders externally and bringing their ideas and values back into the group and working with our internal development teams to bring these to life.
Good stuff! Could you please describe Tequ in your own words?
Tequ is an e-portfolio system which is a digital collection of a learner's experience, knowledge and skills that are then marked or assessed against a standard by their assessor or training lead. An e-portfolio system eradicates the need for paper portfolios.
What did you do before joining the company? Any skills that you think will benefit you in your current role?
I was the Director of Apprenticeships at a college and got to work with a whole range of people from assessors, teachers and awarding bodies through to learners and apprentices. I was very lucky and have been able to transfer a lot of knowledge over to this role although in regard to software development I definitely leave that side of things to the experts!
How about when you're not at work, what do you get up to?
I have a 2-year-old son who keeps me super busy and we have a camper van, so we love to go and explore random places on weekends. I'm also doing a part time interior design course which gets me tapping into my creative side.
What part of your role have you enjoyed so far? Any tasks / projects that stand out?
I love working with stakeholders and other software users. We recently had a group of college students who did a Tequ project as part of their work experience and it was great to see how strong emerging talent is in this industry.
Final question, what's the next step in your job that you wish to achieve?
We have some interesting new features to look forward to in the new year which will support with reporting and data extraction so that's the next big goal for us.
